The Bible helps me to understand the world around me and the world inside me. As I read the stories in the Bible that discuss common fears, moments of desperation, and moments of triumph, I invigorate myself to do the impossible with God’s guidance. Reading the Bible has shifted my perspective on life and life experiences, which has helped me to be more mindful. I would like to share a poem I wrote a few years ago, after reading The Gospel of Matthew. I sometimes re-read the poem to remind my mind what my heart and soul already know. I am human, and thus, I sometimes forget what my soul knows and need to reminder myself. I have noticed that when I shift my perspective on life, I see that my choice to believe is the only thing I can control, and when I choose to believe in God and Jesus, the impossible becomes possible.
Lifeguard
My savior walks on water no matter the storm.
Saves me
if I cry out
and even if I don’t.
My lifeguard.
If I believe
I can walk on water.
And save myself
no matter the storm
through grace.
How great a love that allows me to be
saved
and be
my own savior.
Faith not fear.
Love not sorrow.
Life not death.
Lifeguard was inspired by the scripture in Matthew 14:22-32.
Live well,
Jessica Leanice
This was beautiful and so timely for me. Thank you so much for the reminder. I was feeling quite lost this morning…struggling with some personal things. I will spend the day in The Word, renewing my faith. Praise God…and thank you again. ❤️
